Very little is said about how AI can help the most important stakeholders in healthcare - us, the patients. AI can relieve the stress and the burden of being ill in our overly complex healthcare system. The burden of a complex healthcare system is felt most acutely by those with complex health. What if AI was to help us plan for our own health care, every day of our lives? What is AI was to look over us everyday, as a loved one would, and tell us when something is off? What if AI notified our caregivers when we need some extra attention? AI that lives with each and every one of us, day in and day out, will be the real heroes of the AI transformation.
I recently read an article published by the Harvard Business Review (hbr.org/2019/07/what-ai-driven-decision-making-looks-likehttps://hbr.org/2019/07/what-ai-driven-decision-making-looks-like) that reminded me of why I embraced AI as my passion over 30 years ago. The last figure in that article titled “A Decision-Making Model That Combines the Power of AI and Human Judgement” is what AI means to me. AI’s most meaningful gift is to systematically identify options that people may overlook. The most considered decisions happen when human judgement is applied to the universe of viable options presented by the AI.
Senscio’s Ibis Platform does just that for people overwhelmed with complex health - lacking the ability to effectively plan for their own care, everyday. By planning the daily care for those with complicated care plans, the AI in Ibis shoulders the stress and burden of managing one’s complex health. With the help of the AI in Ibis, every day is measurably easier and worry free, with time and energy left to engage in the daily activities that bring joy. And that is transforming!
